I've long since retired, my son's moved away
我已退休多年，兒子也搬出去了
I called him up just the other day
有一天我打電話給他

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
掛上電話，我心裡有個念頭：

心愛去年受洗時，
美足姐送了一本書拿給心愛爸，
這是書裡提到的一首歌，
來自早逝的美國民謠創作才子Harry Chapin西元1974年的暢銷作『Cat's In The Cradle』，
聽完了這首歌好像也看完了一齣戲，
每個人在生兒育女的過程，
常會碰到許多的無奈與抉擇，
美足姐說，生孩子都是要付代價的，生命都是要付代價的，
只是看先付代價還是後付代價，
看到這首歌詞時，仍在忙碌的媽媽AE生涯打滾中，
雖然我不是爸爸，可是也夠扎動我心。

世界的價值觀，一直在變動，
以前曾經有一陣子，職業婦女、晚婚及不生小孩都是一種趨勢，
現在，那些不生小孩的(包括我)，慢慢的都生孩子了，
然後，慢慢的，
大家又回歸到好像回家帶小孩才是王道，
古早的過去，被推翻的過去，似乎又回來了，
個人的價值觀好像一直被世界推著走，
之前有一個全職媽媽朋友說，她在路上帶著小小孩逛街時，
常被路人詢問為何不去上班，不把小孩交給婆家或娘家?

好友JC也對我說，財經業務部門以商業導向的價值觀聽久了容易誤以為真理，
讓人以為那就是代表了全世界每個人，每件事，
她說，我們要互相提醒，不要被單一價值觀給帶著走。

這首歌也讓我更深的思考，怎麼作，才對自己好、對家庭好，對孩子好，
就像我曾經說的，停下來，不只是為了孩子，更是為了我自己。
因為太匆忙的腳步，讓人來不及思索人生與生命，
一直到現在，我還是常從惡夢中大叫驚醒，
卻不記得自己做了什麼夢，

無論結局與發展，我也都需要好好停下來想一想，
